Opening Ceremonies
Opening Ceremonies: the Torreadors
The fight begins (shouldn't this be a woman in a bikini or something?)
The bull
First encounterThis was the best part of the fight, when the bull was healthy and the Torreadors were running for cover.
Stabbing the shoulders. Not surprisingly, the bull did not appreciate a pike in its shoulder, and tried to gore the blinded horse.
A few more passes
A stick?See what looks like a stick coming out of the right hand hole in the bull's shoulder? Yeah, that's a spurt of blood. Barbaric.
I think the Torreador stepped out of the way on this one.
More stabbyAs if two deep holes in its shoulders isn't enough, time to stick barbs into the bull as well.
In go the barbs.
Ouch, says the bull.
Two is not enoughNow for barbs three and four
Stabby!
Stabbed.
BloodSee the blood spurting out of the bull's back? Yeah. Barbaric.
"So, umm, I've got my blood flying in the air, and, well, this isn't fun any more. Is there a way out of here? Seriously. I'm done."
The bull is doneThe bull really is done at this point. His tongue is hanging out like he's panting, he's moving much more slowly. But it isn't over until a few passes with the cape and some "Oles!"
The Coup de GraceA sword thrust through the neck into the bull's heart.
Stabby.
Stabbed.
One last charge by the bull, and he collapses. You can see the sword hilt just to the right of the Torreador's chin. I missed the shot of the bull lying down to die a few feet away. Katie was sobbing, and we both needed to leave.
